How well do you know the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation?

How well do you know the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation? Here’s an intro to us and our work.

The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation

We are the charity wing of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

We are the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation: a charity that supports the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.

Established in 1917, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission commemorates 1.7 million men and women of the Commonwealth and other nationalities who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars.

Our charity was established to engage and educate people, particularly younger generations, on the work of the CWGC but also to preserve and share the memories of those we commemorate.

Through the incredible generosity of our supporters and members, we can reach communities across the UK, and with our Guides Programme, visitors to select sites in France and Belgium.

Have you seen our projects?

Our work takes us across the UK, engaging many partners, communities, businesses, and of course, the general public.

We actively reach out to young people too, working with schools, colleges, universities, and youth groups to help educate and inspire them on our work. It’s our goal to raise their appreciation and understanding of Commonwealth War Graves' role, both today and in the future.

Sharing and preserving the memories of the men and women commemorated by Commonwealth war graves cemeteries and memorials is at the core of everything we do.

By keeping their memories alive, we can keep their legacy alive too.
