Watch the Commonwealth War Graves’ spectacular The Great Vigil commemorative event tonight at 20:30 UK time on BBC 1 as part of the channel’s “D-Day Tribute to the Fallen”.

Tonight’s ceremonies in France will be broadcast live on BBC 1 at 20:30 UK time.

4,600 headstones in Bayeux War Cemetery will be illuminated in a stunning tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the liberation of France.

Broadcast live from our Bayeux War Cemetery in France, the BBC’s coverage of the tribute to the fallen of D-Day will readings and music before the centrepiece illumination of each of the 4,600 headstones within the cemetery. 

Hosted by Kirsty Young and special guests, the Tribute to The Fallen will be a touching moment of remembrance as we commemorate those who are buried in Bayeux and across Normandy. 

The Tribute to The Fallen forms part of our Great Vigil events, where we will be illuminating each grave at our sites in Normandy.
