Lighting Runnymede
In 2023, we were able to install new architectural lighting at the Runnymede Air Forces Memorial in Surrey, thanks to a generous donation by Mr Alastair Kerr.
The new lights illuminate the memorial to over 20,000 men and women of the Commonwealth Second World War air forces who lost their lives but have no known grave. The fallen served in Bomber, Fighter, Coastal, Transport, Flying Training and Maintenance Commands.
The lights were officially unveiled in October 2023, at an event to mark the 70th anniversary of the memorial.
Guests from across the UK and Commonwealth joined us for several moving speeches, wreath layings and hymns in the sombre yet stunning Memorial, delivered by special guests and CWGC representatives.
