Save the date: War Graves Week is on its way

Our annual awareness week War Graves Week kicks off in two weeks’ time.

Between 21-28th May 2022, together with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, we will be encouraging communities to come together and explore history on their doorsteps.

Our local communities are where many of the men and women who fought and died in the World Wars came from. With over 300,000 casualties commemorated throughout the UK, their stories are waiting to be discovered.

And that’s what War Graves Week is all about: going out into the local area and being inspired by the amazing stories that you can uncover.

Events are being run across the UK and around the world this week. From pop-up events to guided cemetery tours, there’s something for history lovers of all ages to enjoy.

Rounding off this year’s War Graves Week is the Commonwealth War Graves Foundation’s very special An Evening at Brookwood event.

We’ve put together a programme designed about remembrance through music. Several different acts will be performing, helping us to commemorate our war dead through moving and inspirational songs and recitals. It promises to be the perfect way to send off War Graves Week 2022.

To see what else is on the agenda for War Graves Week 2022 please head to the Commission website. The events list will be constantly updated so be sure to revisit for more updates and information on how you can take part.
